Cataract surgery continues to be the most common surgical procedure in the Institute. The institute has all the infrastructure and expertise to perform modern cataract surgery on infants and adults. Some of the specialized surgeries include the following.

Cataract surgery is carried out as day / ambulatory procedure. Few hours of stay in the Institute is made comfortable with compassionate nursing care and friendly hospitality.

Goutami is internationally acknowledged for providing Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery with no suture. The technique is the most cost-effective surgical technique with assured outcomes.

The modern Phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lens implants is done as per the patients needs. A wide variety of foldable intraocular lenses are used as per individual patient needs.

The ophthalmic technicians perform ultrasound biometry on both the eyes and the lens is chosen as per the patient’s life style and expectations.

Surgical procedures

Pterygium

A fleshy growth which may extend on to cornea is common in hot tropical climates. The recurrence nature of this growth is minimized with a special surgical procedure removing the growth followed by grafting with a thin layer of conjunctiva.

Corneal Transplantation

The Institute enlists the people requiring corneal transplantation and performs the surgery during the visits of Dr VK Raju. The Institute has good working relationship with Eye Banks of the region.

The newer procedure of Human Amniotic Membrane transplantation is also performed on selected patients during the visit of Dr VK Raju.

Orbit and Oculoplasty services

The plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures on eye lids, lachrymal system and orbit are offered once in a month.

Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
